In her 2018 memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, Bündchen confessed that she struggled during the early years of motherhood. “When I became a mom, I kind of lost myself. It was like a part of me died,” she wrote in the book. “I’d been this very independent person. It was all about me. But now I had this little being, and I suddenly felt l couldn’t do other things and that was very hard for me. All I ever wanted was to be a mom, but when you’re actually experiencing that, it’s a shock.”

The Devil Wears Prada star also made headlines when she admitted that she got a boob job in 2015 after breastfeeding her two kids. “I was always praised for my body, and I felt like people had expectations from me that I couldn’t deliver,” she told People in 2018. “I felt very vulnerable, because I can work out, I can eat healthy, but I can’t change the fact that both of my kids enjoyed the left boob more than the right. All I wanted was for them to be even and for people to stop commenting on it.” However, she said that she instantly regretted her choice.

“When I woke up, I was like, ‘What have I done?’ I felt like I was living in a body I didn’t recognize,” she wrote in her memoir. “For the first year I wore [baggy] clothes because I felt uncomfortable.” But through it all, her husband remained supportive. “He just said, ‘I love you no matter what’ and that I looked beautiful,” she recalled. “This was definitely another lesson: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. But I wish I would have learned that a different way.”

In the new second season of Brady’s SiriusXM podcast, Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray, the athlete opened up about balancing sports and fatherhood. “Well, I just felt like I had a little left. And I want to give it a shot. I owed it to my teammates and our great coaches and our whole organization,” he said of his 23rd season in the NFL, adding that his priorities are now different. “When I was 25, all I did was think about football. That was my life. It was eat, sleep, drink football. It was my profession, it was my career.”

He continued: “And then over time, other priorities develop because you change and evolve through life and you grow in different ways. So you take on these different responsibilities, of family and commitment and so forth. And you commit time and energy to those things.” The seven-time Super Bowl champion also noted that his children are going through their own major life experiences. “You can’t stop your life even though sports is happening,” he explained.

“Even though I’m playing in my 23rd year, I have a freshman in high school that is playing football, too. I have a 12 year old that is going through his life. I have a 9 year old that is going through her life. And I have parents,” he added. As a result, he tries to “maximize” his “important off-field pursuits and goals” but knows he needs to “focus” once football season comes. It’s “the commitment” he’s “always tried to do in the best way possible.”

Gisele Bündchen & Tom Brady’s Parenting Style

In an interview with Marie Claire, Bündchen said that she and Brady limit their children’s use of electronic devices. “Our family tries to limit the amount of screen time,” she told the publication. “Technology and social media can be a wonderful platform to spread positivity and awareness, but I do believe it is important to stay present and mindful of how it is used.”

The children have an iPad with set time limits as the couple prefers them to play outside. They’re also restricted from using their devices in bed or at the table. “This is a time we use to reconnect and catch up about our day,” said the former Victoria’s Secret Angel. “I do, however, understand the value in the connection that technology can bring as long as it is used in moderation.”
