The previews alone let viewer know they were in for a wild ride, but on one could have predicted what the show would turn into through the years.

Originally, the brothers didn’t think the show would last past its first season, but the show becoming a sensation changed everything. From that point on, they began crafting what has become one of the most popular shows of its era.

For the first three seasons, Stranger Things continuously showed viewers that Netflix was the spot for incredible television work. Fans turned the show into a major hit, and they turned the show’s young leads into household names.

On season four of Stranger Things, a tune from the ’80s, Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” became a featured song. Little did the showrunners know that audiences would propel the song to global airplay in a hurry.

Bush took to her website to express her feelings regarding the song becoming a worldwide sensation on the heels of being featured on the hi Netflix show.

“I can’t believe it, […] it’s all starting to feel a bit surreal,” she wrote.

Bush then elaborated on how she felt about the show using her song.

“I’d only seen the scenes that directly involved the use of the track and so I didn’t know how the story would evolve or build. I was so delighted that the Duffer Brothers wanted to use RUTH for Max’s totem but now having seen the whole of this last series, I feel deeply honoured that the song was chosen to become a part of their roller coaster journey. I can’t imagine the amount of hard work that’s gone into making something on this scale. I am in awe. They’ve made something really spectacular,” she continued.

Thanks to the song breaking out form seemingly out of nowhere, Kate Bush has been able to earn a ton of cash quickly.

It Earned Kate Bush A Fortune

According to Far Out Magazine, “It has been reported that Art pop singer Kate Bush has pulled in a cool $2.3 million in streaming revenue from her 1985 single ‘Running Up That Hill’ and its recent inclusion on the season four soundtrack of Netflix’s smash-hit show Stranger Things.

The lead single from Bush’s fifth studio album, Hounds of Love, has seen a massive resurgence in popularity, especially amongst the younger audiences of the show, prompting a new wave of adoring fans.”

That is an incredible amount of money for a sing to generation in a relatively short amount of time. What makes this especially impressive is that the song was released decades ago, and it’s likely that Bush never made close to this much when the song was first released.
