Stranger Things And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Team Up In New Action Figure Sets, And We Don’t Know Why

What the heck do mutant turtles who eat pizza have to do with the Upside Down? All I can come up with is that the Turtles were created in 1984, and “Stranger Things” takes place in the 1980s. Um, there was a scene with pizza in the “Stranger Things” finale. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles love pizza. So there’s that. From what I recall, the Turtles did not throw waffles at people, so I’m assuming the throwing stars are a nod to Eleven’s love of Eggos.

The team-up choices are a bit weird. Wouldn’t it make more sense — if such a thing can be applied here — to have the four original kids from the Dungeons & Dragons group — Mike, Lucas, Dustin, and Will — pair up with Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo? Then we could have Splinter with Hopper, and April O’Neil with Eleven or something, since the latter was trying to solve the mystery of Vecna? Or April, who is a reporter, could pair with Nancy, who has worked as one herself?

I’m trying too hard to make this gel. “Stranger Things” is weird. “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” is weird. Throwing waffles at people is weird. That’s the connection. Waffle power, I guess?
