Last April, former OU football head coach Lincoln Riley offered an explanation addressing why he left the Sooners for USC shortly after Oklahoma’s 2021 regular season ended with a Bedlam loss.

“As much as my family and I loved Norman and cherished the success we were having on the field, sometimes life throws you curveballs at the most unexpected times,” Riley wrote. “Honestly, I always figured I would end my coaching career at OU. But when my agent called me to pass along interest from USC, I was immediately intrigued by the possibilities.”

But with news that USC and fellow Pac-12 team UCLA are looking to leave the conference for the Big 10 by 2024, OU fans and others who question the move are wondering: Did Riley plan on coaching in the Big 10 all along?
