Marlo Hampton Reflects On Her Journey From Foster Kid To Philanthropist

Today, Marlo Hampton is a peach-holder on Real Housewives of Atlanta, a wildly successful real estate investor and a serial entrepreneur.

TheThings sat down with Marlo once again, to hear more about her journey to where she is now. She also shares what she’d say to her younger self – as well as her advice for anyone looking to follow in her footsteps.

Marlo Never Thought She’d Have This Platform

After years of being featured as a ‘friend of’ in RHOA, Marlo finally has her peach. However, she’s the first to admit that as a kid, she could never have dreamed of coming close to the platform she has now.

“I never thought that. Never thought I’d be on this platform, never thought I’d be on TV … never thought any of that.”

Far from it, she chuckles, “I was just worried about surviving and not getting a beating that day.”

However, now that she has achieved successes well beyond her wildest dreams, she couldn’t be happier – and not just because of all she can do for herself. Rather, one of Marlo’s greatest joys lies in being in a position to help others.

“I’m just glad I am on this platform, because in my heart, I’m a giver.”

“I love to see people happy,” she smiles – and knowing she can play a role in that is one of her biggest accomplishments to date.

Marlo Shares What She’d Tell Her Younger Self

In light of all she’s gone on to achieve since her days in the foster care system, we asked Marlo what she would tell her younger self, given the chance.

Her broad smile immediately taking on an even warmer quality, she takes a moment to think, nodding as she does.

“It would be, baby girl, hold on: your future is bright. Don’t give up, just keep on going – I got ya!”

… And What She’d Tell Others In Her Previous Position

No stranger to giving back, Marlo has made a point of doing her part in uplifting young women in the foster care system through her organization, Glam It Up.

For that reason, we asked what she would say to young women presently in her previous position.

However, she took the opportunity to speak to all girls, in all circumstances, with a beautiful message of encouragement.

“To any young girl, I would tell her, if she dreams it, she can achieve it,” she begins.

On top of that, she adds that she would also advise young women not to get too caught up in social media. Rather, she urges, “be authentic to who you are.”

Marlo concludes our chat by reminding women far and wide to prioritize themselves, first and foremost.

“It’s so important to love yourself and put yourself first.”

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Marlo Hampton is one inspiring woman!
