Alongside The Direct, Chris revealed that he actually enjoyed the training part, given that it provided a different type of challenge.

“This was particularly hard because the target weight we aimed for was quite a ways above where I’d been before. This was probably the biggest and fittest I’ve ever been. We had 12 months where I was at home just training and puppeteering the body and manipulating.”

It all worked out for Hemsworth as he looked bigger than ever in the role. Though ultimately, it was the nutritional part that really set Hemsworth in the right direction.

Chris Hemsworth’s Trainer Stated The Actor Ate Every Two-Hours With Meals Of 450-Calories

Chris Hemsworth’s trainer Luke Zocchi opened up about the experience working alongside the actor. As he revealed with Page Six, it was a different kind of grind. It didn’t involve chasing a shredded look at less than 2,000 calories per day – instead it was quite the opposite, trying to consume lots of healthy foods.

The battle was not making the actor feel overly full and lethargic after a meal. In order to work against this obstacle, Hemsworth had more frequent meals, sticking to the 450-calorie range.

“He eats, like, six to eight meals a day. We’ve kind of got a structure. He found if he eats a really big meal he, like, feels too heavy, so they’re 450-calorie meals broken up into the eight,” Zocchi said. “We try to eat every two hours and getting 450 calories in [each time].”

The key is to keep his body running all day, without depriving it of food, “I usually just keep running him food all day,” he said, joking, “I’m like his grandmother just giving him food.”

n addition, Hemsworth does not avoid carbohydrates, given that they help to keep his physique full. His preferred options include white rice, a slower digestive carb which aids in keeping full, along with a faster digestive such as sweet potato.

Training Sessions Were An Hour-Long But Very Intense

The training is very intense, but Hemsworth isn’t spending hours in the gym. The major key is pumping his muscles and allowing a proper recovery. Over-training isn’t the way to go.

His trainer revealed that sessions last an hour at a very high intensity. Typically, he isn’t hitting the same exercises.

“People are surprised you don’t normally train over, like, an hour in a session. It’s normally an intense, heavy workout. But we’re normally done within an hour because we’ve just pushed him that hard over that hour.”

“But it’s an intense hour. It’s not like we’re standing around and taking photos for Instagram.”

At the end of the day, the training style caters towards whatever Hemsworth is trying to accomplish. Given that he’s chasing a large look suitable for the camera, a classic bodybuilding program is what the actor is running, focused on hypertrophy.
