Early Life:

Clay Walker was born Ernest Clayton Walker Jr, on the 19th of August 1969 in Beaumont, Texas. He is the oldest son of Ernest and Danna Walker. Walker grew up alongside 5 siblings in  Vidor with his stepfather and mom.

He was just 9 years old when Walker’s father brought him a guitar. From that point forward he began taking interest in music and then participated in different talent contests by the age of fifteen. He also did some odd jobs including desk clerk at a Super 8 Motel and some others. 

In 1986 Walker graduated from Vidor High School and started working at a Rubber Company plant and Goodyear Tire. His music career started when Walker was 19 years old and as a musician, he toured and performed in several local clubs before becoming a house singer at a bar in Beaumont named the Neon Armadillo.

A famous record producer James Stroud discovered him in late 1992 and got Walker the chance to sign a deal with Warner Music Group subsidiary Giant Records. James was also the president of that label at the time. 


In 1993 Clay Walker came to the limelight after dropping his self-titled debut album for which he teamed up with producer Stroud. The album contains the hit single titled What’s It to You which became successful by climbing to the top of the Country Singles chart of Billboard Hot.

Walker continued to release more albums including Rumor Has It (1997), Live, Laugh, Love (1999), Say No More (2001), and many others. It was in early 2002 when Walker got an opportunity to sign a deal with RCA Records, so he left Warner Bros. However the singer stayed with RCA for only 1 year and later moved to another label called Asylum-Curb (a division of Curb Records). 

Walker released more albums such as A Few Questions (2003), Fall (2007), She Won’t Be Lonely Long (2010), Long Live the Cowboy (2019), and his 11th studio album entitled Texas to Tennessee which was released in July 2021.


Clay Walker has released numerous hit singles and about 6 of his tracks became number one including What’s It to You (1993), Live Until I Die” (1993–1994), Dreaming with My Eyes Open (1994), If I Could Make a Living (1994), This Woman and This Man (1995), and Rumor Has It in 1997. Clay Walker married a rodeo queen named Lori Jayne Lampson and around this time he didn’t even release his first single. On January 14, 1996, Lori gave birth to her first child a daughter named MaClay DaLayne. Then in May 1999, the couple welcomed their second daughter named Skylor ClayAnne. In 2003 Walker and Lori divorced. 

Afterward, Clay Walker began dating model Jessica Craig and the two married on September 28, 2007. The couple had four more children three sons including William Clayton, born August 5, 2008, and Elijah Craig and Ezra Stephen, born in 2017 and 2020. 

On December 27, 2009, Walker and Jessica were blessed with their daughter named Mary Elizabeth. In January 2021, the fifth child was born a son named Christiaan Michae. 

It was reported that Walker experienced signs of numbness, facial spasms, and dual vision while playing basketball with some of his friends. He quickly changed his eating habits after being diagnosed with numerous sclerosis (MS) and it lasted for 8 weeks. He managed to put the condition into remission with the help of a doctor’s care.
